One of my favorite childhood memories is of the Frozen Custard in Lafayette.
Dad would pile us all into the car on a hot summer evening and we'd drive over to Columbian Park and get an ice cream cone at the Frozen Custard.
Mom would take responsibility for licking a moat around each of our cones to make sure we didn't drip ice cream in the car.
Saturday, on our drive to my brother's house, we stopped at one of the newer Frozen Custard's on the south end of town.
I bought a gallon of their famous Fruit Drink, but after the first glass, had to give it up. Not sure if it's the orange or pineapple juice or one of the other secret ingredients, but it tears up my stomach now. It used to be the main ingredient of Bruce Juice, a local favorite drink to share with friends on a warm summer weekend evening.
