Mother Nature Monday

The day started very early. Something woke up Bruce and Spike around 4:30am. Turns out it was a mother raccoon, and her four babies, messing around in the front woods. Probably trying to get into the bird feeder that's still full because the birds can't figure out how to use it. I didn't have the camera handy to capture the scene, but found this cute racoon video on YouTube.

At lunchtime today, I saw a blue heron in the small pond at the corner of Nimtz and Bendix in South Bend. No place to pull over to take a photo so I'll give credit to the person I nabbed this representative photo from.

This evening, Bruce and I saw a field of sunflowers on County Road 6 in Elkhart. Not sure why someone would grow a field of sunflowers in Elkhart. It's not like Planter's has a sunflower seed packaging factory here or anything. It did remind us of fields, on a much larger scale, we saw in Kansas a few years back, while driving out to Colorado. And, we got up close and personal with some snow and king crabs at Red Lobster's Crab Crackin' Monday. Not exactly a PETA-friendly photo, but yummmmm!
